Jean-Michel Cousteau Dispatch - December 2016

As in all holiday seasons, now is that special time of year we get to enjoy the company of friends and loved ones and appreciate all the goodness in our lives.  It is a time to reflect on the past year’s events and share our thanks for those who have enriched our lives. It is also a time when we at Ocean Futures Society express our deep gratitude to you for having contributed to the voice of OFS and helping us fulfill our mission to explore our global ocean, inspiring and educating people throughout the world to act responsibly for its protection..

In times like these, when the ocean’s health is in decline and climate change continues to pose critical concerns to our future; its important we focus on the stories of hope, optimism and success.

We believe every person counts when it comes to making a difference in protecting our water planet. Jean-Michel Cousteau and the Ocean Futures Society team have once again been deeply touched and inspired by the power and actions of one individual. This time it was nine-year old Alexandra, who felt compelled to ask her family and friends to support the marine education and conservation efforts of OFS in lieu of receiving gifts for her 10th birthday this past month. Her fundraising campaign was a huge success. Jean-Michel was touched by the selfless actions of a young ocean hero and enjoyed making a short video with Alexandra so she could share her personal story of her passion and love for our water planet and tell the world why she wants to make sure it is always protected.

One thing we are encouraging others to do this holiday season is to shop for a cause.
