Explore the National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michel Cousteau

SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA. Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society is pleased to announce a partnership with Ocean Publishing to produce a new, four-book series, Explore the National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michel Cousteau, featuring America’s 13 National Marine Sanctuaries and Marine National Monument. The series is based on Ocean Futures Society’s award-winning, limited edition book America’s Underwater Treasures and the PBS film series Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures.

The book series will take readers on a grand adventure through each of the four regions of the National Marine Sanctuary system. Combining engaging text, stunning photography, and behind-the-scenes stories from the Ocean Futures Society expedition team, Explore the National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michel Cousteau will provide an intelligent inquiry into the health of our oceans while introducing readers to these incredible underwater treasures.

According to Cousteau, “My goal has always been to communicate the beauty of the ocean and the necessity of protecting it to the widest possible audience. By making the content of America’s Underwater Treasures, our original book on all the sanctuaries, now available in this four-part series, it enables us to reach both a wider and a more targeted audience of visitors and communities geographically located near specific sanctuaries. This series is intended not only to inspire, but to inform the general public on specific measures that are working to preserve our ocean resources. The first book in the series, Explore the Southeast National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michel Cousteau, features the Sanctuaries of the Florida Keys, Gray’s Reef, and Flower Garden Banks, and is available for pre-orders now and will ship mid-November at the Ocean Futures Society website and www.oceanpublishing.org. Explore the Southeast National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michel Cousteau will be available in all bookstores January 2011.
