Ambassadors of the Environment Program to open at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, California
Ocean Futures Society is excited to announce that an Ambassadors of the Environment program will open at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, California, on Earth Day, April 22, 2010. This program will bring Jean-Michel Cousteau’s innovative environmental education experience to the guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, as well as to the surrounding communities of Dana Point and Laguna Niguel.
Expert naturalists will guide guests on adventures through the natural wonders of the local environment, including the kelp forests, tidepools, coastal bluffs, and beautiful sandy beaches. Guests will not only learn about these delights of nature, they will also learn how to live more gently and sustainably on our planet. The Ambassadors of the Environment program inspires guests to look to nature for lessons on how to build sustainable lifestyles and a sustainable future.
The program will operate from a learning center designed with environmentally responsible principles, complete with an extensive outdoor garden with composting, watershed model, and solar energy demonstrations. Programming will be offered to adults, families, children, groups, and schools. Complementary programs will be offered in addition to a suite of normal activities each week. Some of these programs include snorkeling in kelp forests, hiking on the bluffs, organic cooking, and creating Native American crafts.
This program also inspires guests to gain a greater understanding of the relationships between land and sea, humans and nature, people to people and present to future. According to Jean-Michel Cousteau, “We expect everyone, by learning more about our natural world and their places within it, to return to their communities as environmental stewards – ambassadors of the environment.”
