From the Shark Protected Waters of the Bahamas

Jean-Michel Cousteau is filming with an underwater film team in the shark protected waters of Bahamas for an upcoming documentary. Here the sharks are worth much more alive, attracting tourists from all around the world to enjoy some of the best predicted shark encounters.

It in the winter months in Bimini, large numbers of Great Hammerhead Sharks come in close to shore in the late afternoon, where divers can sit on the bottom in 25 feet of water and watch these magnificent creatures swim by.

They are being tagged and studied by researchers from different institutions around the world to better understand their movement and numbers here off the coast of South Bimini Island. Great Hammerheads are a protected species and we hope images like these will help raise awareness of the importance of protecting these ecologically valuable animals
