Live Q&A with Jean-Michel Cousteau and Charles Vinick
December 14, 2020
Greetings friends and ocean lovers,
Please join our free LIVE Q&A about the film Keiko: Born to be Wild at 3:00 pm PST on December 16th, 2020 with Jean-Michel Cousteau, President of Ocean Futures Society and Charles Vinick, Executive Director of the Whale Sanctuary Project.
Keiko: Born to be Wild tells the real-life story of Keiko, the killer whale from the movie Free Willy. In the movie, Keiko was freed from captivity. But in real life Keiko still languished in a pool in Mexico City. Private donations were raised and a movement to help Keiko was launched. This is the story of the extraordinary humanitarian project of how Keiko was returned to Iceland where he was captured when he was two years old. We have reached a point in our human evolution where people are realizing that cetaceans, including orcas the largest of the dolphins, are far too intelligent, sophisticated, and socially and behaviorally complex to be kept in concrete prisons.
