Jean-Michel Cousteau joins the International SeaKeeper Society on November 5, 2015 to celebrate and honor the recipient of the 2015 SeaKeeper Award, his son, Fabien Cousteau.

Santa Barbara, CA –Each year the prestigious SeaKeeper Award is given to an individual or organization that has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to ocean conservation. Fabien Cousteau’s efforts in the Florida Keys and across the world help promote education and conservation. The event will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

From his Mission 31 expedition to bring international attention to the state of the ocean, to his Plant A Fish organization that empowers and educates local communities by replanting aquatic plants and animals, Fabien Cousteau carries on the legacy of his father, Jean-Michel and grandfather, Jacques Cousteau. Fabien joins the ranks of other recipients of the SeaKeeper Award and prominent ocean conservation figures, including Dr. Sylvia Earle, James Cameron, Mikhail Gorbachev, and his father, Jean-Michel Cousteau, among others.

As the first recipient of the SeaKeeper Award in 1996, Jean-Michel Cousteau will now commemorate his son, Fabien Cousteau, for his work and achievements in ocean conservation and public education. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our ocean heroes and draw attention to the importance of protecting our life support system: the ocean.

Congratulations to Fabien Cousteau from all of us at Ocean Futures Society. We are so proud of your accomplishments and continuing efforts to protect our water planet!
