ATLANTA, GA – April 21, 2011 – Further strengthening its international client roster, Castalia Communications has signed a distribution agreement with Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society (OFS). Under the terms of the agreement, OFS has granted Castalia the Latin American rights to its television, documentary and film library.
Today’s announcement was made by Jean-Michel Cousteau, President of Ocean Futures Society and Luis Torres-Bohl, President of Castalia Communications.
“Our mission has always been to not only communicate the beauty of the ocean, but to also educate others on the necessity of protecting it,” said Cousteau. “By making our library available in Latin America, it enables us to reach a wider audience where we hope to inspire and inform more on preserving our ocean resources. We are excited about partnering with Castalia and look forward to working with them to launch our stories throughout Latin America.”
As the eldest son to the legendary Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Jean-Michel has continued in his famous father’s footsteps through his work with the Ocean Futures Society. The OFS library includes such titles as:
- My Father, Jacques Cousteau: 100 (in high definition) – On the 100th anniversary of his famous father’s birth, Jean-Michel talks with such names as Mikhail Gorbachev, Ted Turner and James Cameron, to explore how his father changed the world and many lives.
- The Spill and Beyond (in high definition) – A one hour expose into the BP oil spill that occurred last year in the Gulf of Mexico. Jean-Michel and his Ocean Futures team were amongst the first teams to arrive at the disaster and recorded the early faces of the event--the fisherman, pelicans, dolphins, turtles, crabs, shop owners, rig operators, beaches and blackened marshes. But where has all that oil gone? What is the bigger picture here and most importantly, what have we learned?
- People of the Sea – A six-part series that takes viewers deep into oceans around the world to explore sea life, shipwrecks and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
“We are delighted this deal has come together and we welcome the high-quality slate of titles of Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society to the Castalia library,” added Torres-Bohl. “The Cousteau name and brand is recognized and cherished by audiences around the world. Their library has universal appeal, making it a natural choice for our Latin American clients.”
